On Saturday March 10th, Bedford Town Centre again become of science activity as part of British Science Week. Our programme was packed with loads of FREE hands-on workshops and activities for everyone to enjoy.

The Higgins, John Bunyan Museum, In2Beats, Bedford Central Library, Rogan’s Books, Slide Record Shop and Ready Steady Roll all opened their doors to become scientific venues for the day.

We had so many providers come along to help children and families to immerse themselves and experience science in action.

This year we’ve added some incredible new events and we’re especially thrilled to be bringing Mark Rutherford School’s pop up Planetarium to Bedford Central Library. Visitors will be able to step inside and experience the wonders of the solar system, right in the middle of Bedford. We’ve also got an ‘escape room’, DJ and radio production workshops and you can even meet a T-Rex!

We want as many people to be able to enjoy these events as possible. Bedford has a wealth of science excellence on our doorstep and we’re grateful that so many scientists, engineers, teachers, artists, DJs, cartographers, astronomers and STEM ambassadors have volunteered their time to share their passion for STEM.

Thanks to a partnership with Access Bedford, four of the outdoor science demos will have sign language interpretation and all venues have disabled access.

All of this also wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic sponsors – The Harpur Trust, Polam School, The Bedford Clanger, Bedford Borough Council, You Can Book Me, Cranfield University, Bedford Creative Arts, Clearblue and Access Bedford
