A Very BedPop Christmas – Plan your Weekend

Festive fun in the Cultural Quarter with a Christmas market, Santa’s recycling grotto, free activities, workshops, music, festive food and SNOW!

You already know that we’ll have the best of Bedford’s designers, artists, makers and crafters all under one BedPop roof, but this year we’ll be introducing lots of new sellers and we’ve tweaked the layout to make your shopping experience even better. Choose from fine art prints, ceramics, jewellery, glassware, homewares, gifts, cards and more. Commission personalised items in time for Christmas and meet Bedford’s creative community.
You will find them in the foyer and follow them through to the Sir William Harpur Gallery.  Bring a big shopping bag!

 

 

 

 

Father Christmas – Saturday 2nd December 11am – 12pm and 12.30pm – 4pm
The Big FC will be visiting the BedPop Christmas Shop with his Recycling Grotto on Saturday to decide who’s going to make this year’s ‘nice’ list.  Pick up a quiz at The Higgins reception to lead you to Santa.
Fast-track your way into his good books by bringing along a used toy in good working order so that Santa and his elves can donate to a local charity.
The first 100 children will receive a little goody bag and all children will be entered in a draw to win £50 of Love Bedford vouchers.

Workshops – book here!
* Wreath Making, 11am – Join Zannah of Rosehip Bespoke Florists for a three hour festive masterclass in wreath making.  We will provide all the materials you’ll need to take home your very own Christmas door wreath.
* Pasta Making, 11am – Learn how to make pasta with the experts at Spaghetti John’s!  You will make the pasta and sauce and take home to warm up and enjoy.  Ages 3-12 and all children to be accompanied by an adult.
* Needle Felting Workshop, noon – In this workshop we will be making a robin ornament perfect for you to take home and hang on your tree.
* Christmas Crochet Workshop, 2pm – Nikkei Reeve from Lemon & Ginger will teach you how to crochet your own Christmas decoration.
* Needle Felting Workshop, 2pm – In this workshop we will be making a robin ornament perfect for you to take home and hang on your tree.
* Bath Bomb Making Workshop, 3pm – Learn how easy it is to make non-toxic bath bombs, using food grade ingredients, with Evie and Lola.  Participants will be guided into making a box of 4-6 bath bombs of their chosen colour and fragrance, to take home with them.  Suitable for all ages (no children to be left unaccompanied).

Baby and Play Toy Shop – drop in games, all day
* Take part in the speed jigsaw game with a prize for the quickest over the 2 days (there will be 2 age categories to keep it fair)
* Challenge Emma! Emma doesn’t think anyone can beat her at 4 in a Row…please someone prove her wrong!!
* Try out the Janod version of Guess Who
* Have a go at the Melissa and Doug Suspend Challenge

A BookTastic Christmas
Rogan’s Books will be running two BookTastic events throughout the day – choose from Christmas favourite ‘The Empty Stocking’  at 11:30am, or join them to read this year’s new Christmas funny, ‘I Killed Father Christmas’ as 1:30pm. They will also be running book club sessions with crafts to bring the stories to life! Mixed ages, drop-in.

 

Music and Entertainment
* Christmas sing-a-longs in The Higgins Courtyard with Kris Hughes of My Girl The River at 11am and 3pm
* The Golden Tones and friends will get us into festive spirit with carols at Noon
* The The Frogs’ Chorus in The Higgins Courtyard at 1pm.
* Roll Your Own Records will be manning the (Christmas) decks in our market hall (on the Saturday), creating the essential festive playlist.

 

Food Glorious Food
The Higgins Pantry will be in the courtyard serving mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and warm doughnuts and their usual offerings will be available too.  Plus check out the exclusive dining deals from the restaurants on Castle Lane – Riverside Grill, Baja, Spaghetti John’s and Thali and Tandoor.
